  • 1. An audience analysis of how a beer advertisement targets consumers By Meg Garven (MM1)
  • 2. Carlton Dry Primary Audience
    • A fairly affluent, urban beer drinking audience is targeted, primarily male who are already beer drinkers, and therefore can appreciate the difference (i.e. Dryness) that this new beer offers.

  • 3. Carlton Dry Secondary Audience
    • The ad also covertly targets women who are probably more body conscious with the low carbohydrates and also the health conscious.

  • 4. Carlton Dry Audience Reaction
    • A fairly high level of education is expected. The audience will probably think that the ads are clever and witty. The lack of text means the audience has to work out the message and/or point of the ad themselves. This would also indicate a more thinking audience is targeted.

  • 5. Carlton Dry Concept obvious?
    • The beer is so dry it repels water. Fairly subtle and clever, hence promotes a notion of being a little more clever than your average beer swiller. Appeals to upwardly mobile professional yuppie types, who are also body conscious.
