rotating photos of him or his fans promoting his
album using social networking sites.
The song ‘Dear Darlin’ is written about a relationship
that has gone bad. The first scene is quite dark showing
the audience the feel of the video. This implies that the
music video is relatively sad.
We get a close up of Olly’s face which within the
video is sad due to the lyrics of what the song is
about, the setting is still the same implying that
the story line behind the video is affecting him.
In the video, Olly is singing about
his past relationship that he is
somewhat ‘dwelling’ over. There
is an over lay of him and his ex
girlfriend within in the shot doing
things such as moving in together.
Throughout the music video the
audience begin to understand
what Olly has been through and
there for the lyrics correspond to
You then get the next scene
where the ex girlfriend is also
involved and the story being
told is a ‘typcial’ love story,
boy meets girl, falls in love
and breaks up. You get scenes
of both sides of the
relationship and this puts the
audience into their shoes.
This is where the title of the
song is embedded into Ollys
music video. The title of the
song suggests he is sending a
letter to his ‘ex’, here is
where we get the
confirmation that he is trying
to win her back. This also
stays inline with both the
feel and the lyrics within the
This scene is very important.
Due to Olly and the actor
merging into one, as the girl
walks through the metal Olly
merges out the other side.
This could signify them both
walking into each others life's,
but also meaning that they are
walking out of each others
This scene is important due to the
recent slide where Olly is writing
his letter. This just confirms to the
audience that the song is revolved
around a relationship and
throughout the video gives the
audience a story of what
happened within the relationship
and why It ended.
• Overall Olly's video stays within the genre he has wrote the
song in. Throughout the music video the style of writing ties in
with the video itself. Olly’s style from the beginning has stayed
throughout his time within the music industry. This ranges
from colourful letters and how his pictures are taking and
displayed on his albums and posters. Most of his typography is
recognised due to it all being very similar during the years.
