    • Homework The purpose of homework for the student is to: •Provide extra practice •Teach responsibility The purpose of homework for the parent is to: •Provide parents with an opportunity to reinforce concepts •Provide information about school work The purpose of homework for the teacher is to: •Check students’ understanding and application of content and skills taught •Adapt planning and pacing according to students’ understanding Tuesday, September 3, 2013
    • Homework Guidelines • Assigned Monday-Thursday nights • Between 30 minutes and 1 hour per night (including reading) • Math • Spelling • Unfinished class work • Independent Reading *Minimum of 15 minutes per night, 5 nights per week. *Students must take 2 AR tests each month: 1 fiction book, 1 nonfiction book Tuesday, September 3, 2013
