Subcultures

 1. 1. Subcultures
 2. 2. Image

The image of the public is greatly affected by the style of celebrities. In the media crazed world we live in you can’t pick up a magazine without fashion advise. However the younger generations usually twelve to late twenties and often even after, are influenced what to wear by the clothes their favourite artists or bands wear. This is then why groups are created such as Chavs, Goths, Emos, Indies, Alterative and many more come from. This then means each genre has its own sense of style and furthermore music itself divides and united people with similar tastes.

 3. 3.

These are a few examples of the genres styles.

 4. 4.

From this retailers can created their own genre of shop and to a more condensed target market. Here few examples of different shops monopolising of various trends.

 5. 5.

Therefore my video has to fit the mould of my bands genres otherwise the video will seem unnatural and the message will be lost. From discovering this I have decided to study some music video’s which Kunk likes and appears to be of a similar style.

 6. 6. Attitude

Along side the image of are certain groups there is a stereotypical image which is usually derogatory and made up entirely of first impressions. Here are a few examples of a stereotypical views:

 7. 7.

Punk=Aggressive, Violent

Loud, Destructive

Music Genre= Punk,

Punk-Rock, Heavy Metal,

Screamo

 8. 8.

Chav= Arrogant,

Rude, Lowlifes

Music Genre= RnB,

Drum and Bass, Rap

 9. 9.

Goth= Attention Seekers,

Self Harmers, Upset

Music Genre= Heavy Metal,

Death Metal, Scremo

 10. 10.

There are many more however most people within these group are nothing like the stereotypical label. These view are construct mainly by the musicians, Because that the image they give off. They do these to gain interest and appeal to their target market, however as a result negative ideas of each genre are created.

 11. 11.

The particular genre of my band is Alt-Rock (also known as alternative or alternative music) is a genre of Rock music with a select few bands reach commercial success such as “The Cure” however most Alt-Rock bands recorded to independent labels and got public exposure through word of mouth. However it eventually reach the music mainstream and more and more band gained success. Our Band “KunK” like many other us gigs and now social networking site to gain exposure. Here are example of the Alt-Rock image

 12. 13.

With this in mind my music video must fit the all of the Alt-Rock requirements so that the band and its audience are represented correctly.
