Art education research journal Art education research journal Presentation Transcript

  • Art Education Research JournalBy: Mary Colbert
  • This was my third school observation and probably my favorite. I observed at Ralph Askins Elementary School with Mrs. Becky Jones. I thought I wouldn’t enjoy this age group as much as the others but I really did. The picture is the project the students worked on and I loved it so much I went home and did one myself!
  • Page 20 was really fun to create. I really enjoyed being able to use different mediums in our journals. I painted this picture to use as one of my personal pages. I think it turned out really well, a lot better than I expected it to. I wanted to create a fall sunset landscape which is my favorite time of year.
  • These two pages are one of my research articles. It was a really interesting article about street/graffiti art and how someone can produce art anywhere and that it isn’t destroying property but creating art. I had a lot of fun making my own stencil.
  • These two pages are my own artwork and in a way a reflection of myself. It was nice to have something to contribute to the journal that was mine. I believe that your journal is just not complete until you add some of your on art, it is really what makes your journal so personal.
  • Pages 74 and 75 are my art history pages. I feel like it is important for students to understand culture other than their own so I choose ancient African art. The background of 74 is a copy of kente cloth that my father bought in Kenya, Africa. I choose the International scene because I felt like this was an important art era because so many artists were experimenting with new media and ideas.
