According to an article from the Globe & Mail (February 27, 2009), more and more HR
Professionals are experiencing greater degrees of concerns from their employees about
personal well-being than ever before.
It’s a trend a lot more employers are witnessing as anxious employees bring their increasing
financial troubles to work with them, posting greater challenges for employers [HR
professionals] in keeping staff focused, productive, motivated and on the job as the
recession deepens.
Employers are beginning [or should think about] providing information about group &
pension benefit plans on their intranet site. Some employers have distributed memos to
remind employees to use their employer-assistance programs if need be.
What can employers / HR professionals do NOW! Some tips:
Help employees understand
Offer workplace-based financial education programs. Encourage the use of employee
assistance programs
Enhance engagement
Increase communication
