Clinicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners wanting to consolidate current understanding of digestive diseases, including diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to patient management, also may benefit from this program. COURSE DESCRIPTION & LEARNING OBJECTIVES Mayo Clinic Gastroenterology and Hepatology Board Review is designed for candidates preparing for certifying and maintenance of certification examinations in gastroenterology. The program will include relevant topics such as pathology, endoscopy, radiology and nutrition. Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to: •  dentify esophageal, gastric, small I bowel and colon diseases and other disorders of the gastrointestinal tract and liver. •  rticulate diagnostic therapeutic A approaches to patients diagnosed with digestive disorders. •  iscuss relevant areas of pathology, D endoscopy, radiology and nutrition. Attendance at this Mayo course does not indicate nor guarantee competence or proficiency in the performance of any procedures which may be discussed or taught in this course. ABIM MAINTENANCE OF CERTIFICATION SESSION (Optional add-on and fee of $200.00 per module) On Wednesday, September 4, 2013, two optional ABIM modules will be offered to help physicians prepare for the board exam and recertification process. The optional pre-course sessions are chaired by expert faculty who will analyze each module question, review current evidence and key points and summarize clinical pearls. Session attendees actively participate using an audience response system and a common consensus will be achieved in answering these questions. The collective information gathered in these interactive sessions enhances individual knowledge and longer retention of current medical information. Each module is worth 10 points toward Maintenance of Certification. COURSE MATERIALS Participants will receive a copy of the 4th edition of the “Mayo Clinic Gastroenterology and Hepatology Board Review” textbook and a flash drive containing the comprehensive course syllabus. A link to the electronic syllabus will also be distributed to participants prior to the course. Participants are invited to bring their laptops to the meeting room. Internet access and power will be provided. Syllabus (optional add on and fee of $75.00) A printed syllabus can be pre-ordered and purchased for $75 for the board review course upon registration. This book is intended to provide the user with knowledge in gastroenterology, hepatology, and related areas of pathology, endoscopy, nutrition, and radiology. CREDIT College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic, is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
