  • GYNECOLOGIAL ULTRASOUND AGENDA OVERALL GOAL: Our overall goal is to teach basic ultrasound scanning technique to physicians and other medical professionals for point of care, in-office treatment. It is our goal to provide the information needed to evaluate and document the female pelvis using diagnostic ultrasound. OBJECTIVES:  Understand basic ultrasound physics to properly acquire images of diagnostic quality.  Gain a working knowledge of ultrasound instrumentation.  Be able to recognize and evaluate normal pelvic anatomy.  Understand standard ultrasound exam protocol for both transabdominal and transvaginal scanning.  Be able to recognize and evaluate pathologic conditions of the female pelvis.  Understand the scanning technique involved in image acquisition of both normal and abnormal exams.  Understand scanning pitfalls and how to avoid them. TARGET AUDIENCE: Doctors of Obstetricians and Gynecology, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Certified Nurse Midwives, Ultrasound Technologists, other medical professionals A certificate for 12 CME credits will be issued at the conclusion of the course.
