TARGET AUDIENCE This conference is designed for psychiatrists, family practice and internal medicine physicians, pharmacists, psychologists, LCSW/MFT, nurse practitioners, social workers, nurses, and other interprofessional health-care team members who work with patients with psychotic disorders. EDUCATIONAL NEED This year’s conference on psychotic disorders has been designed to respond to areas of need as identified through past conference evaluations and annual needs assessment surveys of participants. The conference is knowledge and experience-based and designed to update participants on important new approaches to the treatment of psychotic disorders and clinical high-risk states. Content will address educational or practice gaps in the areas of: • Impact of Cannabis on Mental Health • New Brain Stimulation Techniques • Virtual Reality and Technology in Psychiatry • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) • Bipolar Disorder in First Episode Psychosis EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES At the end of the activity, participants should be able to: • Summarize current understanding on the effects of cannabis in mental health • Discuss the indications and principles underlying the use of cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) in psychotic disorders • Discuss the impact of CBT on clinical and functional outcomes • Summarize new developments in brain stimulation including the mechanism of action, and the role in the treatment of depression, psychosis and traumatic brain injury • Evaluate how the use of new technologies such as virtual reality and telehealth are changing the practice of psychiatry • Summarize key issues in the diagnosis and treatment of Bipolar Disorder in youth presenting with a first episode of psychosis
  • 3. CONFERENCE REGISTRATION Please register early – space is limited. Tuition is $225 for physicians and $210 for all others. Confirmation of registration will be sent within two weeks after receipt of registration form. The fees will increase after August 9, 2013. Tuition includes continental breakfast, lunch, refreshment breaks, electronic syllabus, and an online certificate of attendance. Tuition may be paid by check, American Express, Discover, MasterCard or VISA. Cash is not accepted. Sacramento County Employees and UC Davis faculty and staff are eligible for tuition discounts. See registration form for details. Conference materials cannot be guaranteed unless registration is received by September 9, 2013. The Office of Continuing Medical Education reserves the right to cancel this conference. In such a case, a full refund will be given. Registration forms received without payments will not be processed until payment is received, and payment must follow within 10 days. Early discount rates are honored if payment is received by the date noted on the registration form. After that date, the late fee is applied. ON-SITE FEES: At door registrations will be charged at a higher rate. Please see registration form for details. CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY: A refund of tuition, less $75 administrative fee, will be allowed if requested in writing by September 9, 2013. No refunds will be provided after this date. ELECTRONIC EVALUATION AND CREDIT The link to your electronic syllabus, evaluation and certificate of credit is available for 30 days after the last day of the conference. Once you have completed the evaluation process your certificate will be available. The electronic syllabus will be available to pre-registered attendees online prior to the conference for downloading and printing. A flash drive will be distributed at the conference. If you prefer to have a printed syllabus, we will be happy to accommodate you for an additional fee of $30 if ordered by September 9, 2013. ACCREDITATION The University of California, Davis, Health System is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. CREDIT DESIGNATION PHYSICIAN CREDIT: The University of California, Davis, Health System designates this live activity for a maximum of 6.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.
