NEEDS ASSESSMENT This course is designed to change physician competence in the management of patients with Diabetes (type 1 and 2), obesity, dyslipidemia as well as endocrine, disorders hyponatremia caused by adrenal or pituitary disorders, thyroid nodules, male infertility, hirsutism and osteoporosis. This year’s conference will specifically address these identified educational needs and provide practitioners with state-of-theart tools to provide improved treatment options for their patients. The topics have been selected in response to participant evaluations from previous CME activities. The faculty presenting and interacting with participants have been selected on the basis of their comprehensive clinical experience and academic excellence. Interactive question and answer sessions will be combined with case discussions in small group settings for increased learning. EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES At the end of the symposium, participants should be able to: • Define and use currently available insulin at right time schedule, type and dose appropriately • State the other new treatment options, such as incretin and sodium, glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors therapies, and justify how to combine or switch • Apply management of hypertriglyceridemia associated with diabetes • Review diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to hypercalcemia in in-and out-patient settings • Identify the characteristics in thyroid nodules which suggest malignancy and require an urgent response • Outline advances in thyroid surgery • Explain the new parenteral treatments for osteoporosis • List the diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to hirsutism and hair loss from puberty to post-menopause
    • • Explain the endocrine approach to diagnosis and management of male infertility • Discuss the recent controversy related to appropriate management of hypothyroidism CONFERENCE REGISTRATION Please register early – space is limited. Tuition is $315 for physicians and $275 for all others. Confirmation of registration will be sent within two weeks after receipt of registration form. The fees will increase after February 14, 2014. ACCREDITATION The University of California, Davis Health System is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
