  2. 2. Survey the Location <ul><li>Whether a school or your office premise or a barren land or a govt. institutions it should be inspected in advance to get the correct idea of number of plants and spacing. </li></ul>
  3. 3. Number & Spacing <ul><li>Decide the number of plants to be planted. If it is a barren land or field then you have to give proper marking on the ground for digging pits based on your spacing (generally it should be 5 X 5 meters or 4 X 4 meters ). </li></ul><ul><li>In case of road side or near house it depends on the available space , but avoid too close spacing. (minimum 4 meters) </li></ul>
  4. 4. Pit Size <ul><li>Generally should be 45 cm Cube( 45 cm deep, 45 cm wide and 45 cm length). In case you have big tall plant seedling (more than 2 meter height with big earth ball )then size should be 60 cm cube. </li></ul>
  5. 5. Quality of Seedling <ul><li>Che c k the availability of Seedlings of proper height and good growth. At least 1 meter height and properly grown seedling is must. </li></ul>
  6. 6. Any Time Planting in Assured areas <ul><li>For planting a few trees with provision of watering , planting can be done at any time . So start digging of pits now . </li></ul>
  7. 7. Bigger Area Wait for Rains <ul><li>For a big chunk of land involving more than 500 plants lets wait for one good rain so that soil gets moist ,soften and digging of pit is easy. </li></ul>
  8. 8. A little Advance Action <ul><li>Better to get the seedlings transported two days before planting to help the plants to recover from the transportation shock. </li></ul>
  9. 9. When to Plant <ul><li>The best time of planting is early morning (forenoon). </li></ul>
  10. 10. Advance Precaution <ul><li>The seedling should be watered profusely one day before planting so that the ball of earth around the root part is moist and hold soil effectively which will be useful while planting . </li></ul>
  11. 11. Before Planting <ul><li>Remove plastic container or bag before planting . </li></ul><ul><li>The ball of earth which is moist and intact should be placed carefully inside pit. </li></ul>
  12. 12. Proper Placing <ul><li>Place the plant carefully along with ball of earth in the centre pf the pit followed by filling of soil around it. </li></ul>
