  • How to make an Effective PowerPoint Presentation

    Make sure there is contrast!
    Colors that aresimilarcan strain the eyes
    Keep the theme and word colors simple
    Having toomany colors can distract the audience

    Pick readable font
    Keep font consistent
    It can be distracting tochange it constantly
    Align appropriately
    Misalignment can cause confusion
    DoN’t
    Use paragraphs. This can cause clutter on the screen and distract your audience.
    Write too much information. Keep it simple and speak about one thing at a time.

    You can…
    1) Use more images than text..
    2) Use images to reinforce your point..
    3) Give the audience a visual example…
    1) Use them carefully, it can distract audience.
    2) Don’t use them to decorate!
    3) Explain how it correlates with your text.

    You want audience to listen to the presenter, not watch the moving text!
    Its hard for the audience to read because they need to wait for the words to STOP in order to read.

    KNOW YOUR PRESENTATION
    Do not read straight from the slides
    Use the PowerPoint to refer back to in order to reinforce your point, not to explain your position
    STAY FOCUSED
    Speak only about topics presented on your slides
    Allow audience to ask questions at the end of the presentation, not during!
