    30. Chicago Tribune - April 15, 2007 Silk Road wraps up its successful run By John von Rhein “What could easily have turned into a scattershot array of world music performances cloaked in gassy Global Village platitudes has instead proved a remarkably coherent, successful and exciting artistic, educational and humanistic endeavor.” Associated Press – April 7, 2007 Famed cellist says Chicago a major stop on Silk Road By F.N. D‘Alessio “There's no denying the popularity of Silk Road Chicago. Last year's inaugural concert brought a record audience of 13,500 to Chicago's downtown Millennium Park, and Ma expects to see an even larger crowd for the finale, which will include hundreds of students from the city's public schools.”
    31. On February 2, 2005, the Lighthouse experienced one of its most exciting days in recent history. Thanks to the hard work of the entire staff of the Lighthouse, but most of all thanks to public relations director Dominic Calabrese, the Lighthouse was featured on the front page of the Wall Street Journal. I helped to make sure the Lighthouse would receive maximum benefit from this public relations coup. The objective was clear: spread the news.
    32. Within a matter of hours the first television crews were interviewing the executive director and filming Lighthouse Industries

    34. May. 17, 2005 - House of Representatives Rep. Danny Davis (D-Ill.) “We are always looking for the most cost-efficient way of doing business. We also better look at the needs of our people and we better look at the needs of the people in our community to provide opportunities for blind people to work, to have dignity, to have pride, to have a sense of self-worth. We should not let anything erode that, we should not let anything take that away and so I would urge us, as we purchase, as we continue to purchase clocks, that we remember something the bible says: “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” Some people can see but have no vision; sometimes our policies reflect the ability to see, but not in a visionary way. Please, America, let’s not put the people at The Chicago Lighthouse for the Blind out of work. Let’s keep them working and hopefully all the rest of us will be able to see.”
    35. Chicago Tribune – February 1, 2008 Lorca lives through dance, opera, visual arts and more By John von Rhein “When the Chicago Symphony Orchestra mounts an important downtown premiere, it does it up big. Very big. The CSO’s downtown premiere of Osvaldo Golijov’s one- act opera, ‘Ainadamar,’ has been expanded into a citywide partnership with Instituto Cervantes and the Albany Park Theater Project. The three Chicago arts institutions are paying homage to Federico García Lorca, the great Spanish poet, playwright and cultural icon whose ghostly presence hovers over ‘Ainadamar.’ The movable feast of Lorca, in music, theater, film and the visual arts, begins next week and runs through March.” WBEZ Chicago Public Radio Eight Forty-Eight Opera Inspires High School Students By Catalina Maria Johnson (click speaker icon to start audio)
