    3. Types of Hybrid Cars
      • Hybrid Cars come in different types
      • The 3 most popular types are: Petroleum Fuel assists engines, electric assist engines and two mode
      • hybrid systems
      Petroleum Assist
      • Only the electric motor
      • is used to propel the vehicle
      • at very low speeds
      • When desiring greater
      • speeds, the gasoline motor
      • kicks in
      • Most suited for urban
      • lifestyle and driving around
      • the city
      Electric Assist Two-Mode Hybrid
      • More suited for highway
      • driving due to the fact that
      • the electric motor only
      • kicks in when the gasoline
      • engine requires an
      • additional boost
      • a combination of the
      • petroleum and electric
      • assist engines
      • uses twin electric motors
      • ideal for both low and
      • high speed driving
    4.
      • For a short while, manufacturers of hybrid
      • vehicles will lose. This in turn, will cause the
      • cost of hybrids to increase.
      • Reaching desired speed takes longer than
      • when in a normal car. This causes the driver
      • to feel unsafe at times.
      • The batteries used by some hybrid cars
      • need to be replaced on a more frequent
      • basis than normal cars.
      • They can cost anywhere from
      • $8,000 to $15,000 to replace.
    5.
    6.
      • With fuel efficiency concerns continuing to get worse, hybrid
      • cars will have to play an even bigger role in helping the
      • environment
      • They will benefit from the continuing growth of technology
      • Because of future technologies, companies have big plans in
      • terms of what to expect in the future for hybrid cars…
      • -> For Example:
      • By the year 2010, General Motors hopes to have their new
      • “ Plug-In” hybrid which can travel up to 40 miles on electricity
      • with it’s rechargeable battery
      • Eventually the cost improved performance and reducing size
      • and weight of fuel cell obstacles will be overcome, providing
      • another efficient and environmentally friendly source of power
      • for vehicles
