Why Is Keyboarding Important?
• Keyboarding is a developmental skill that
occurs over a period of time. Poor habits
begin at an early age. It’s important for

How Often Should Keyboarding Be Taught?
• Teachers do not have to be expert
keyboardists to TEACH the skills. Using a
program such as Type To Learn will actually
TEACH the skills
• Keyboarding should be reinforced every
time a student works on a laptop or
desktop.

Mythbuster #3
There’s NO time to teach keyboarding!
Keyboarding is important! It’s a
vital skill students need to
develop at an early age to
compete in a 21st century
learning environment.
Keyboarding should be taught
every time students open a
laptop, not just when they go on
Type To Learn. The job of the
teacher is to monitor, encourage,
and reinforce their skills while
they type!
