Published on

The Animal Health Division of Inra is gradually setting up a current awareness system with the aim of obtaining strategic support and a set of tools available on the Internet.
Its aims are to facilitate direct communication with professional partners in order to establish a real dialogue, based on two complementary tools: CERISA, the animal health and veterinary public health portal, and VELISA, a French-language current awareness and literature search tool for animal health.

Aims of the Animal Health Division of Inra* Inra The main aim : to carry out fundamental works and targeted research in the area of animal health A targeted research mandate : to set up on-going and organized links with the livestock production industry in France (socio-professional partnership)  To find out needs from professionals (to identify key research topics)  To make known its field of competence and expertise and to explain its results  T provide reliable and accessible iinformation To id li bl d ibl f i*INRA : The french National Institute for Agricultural Research Marie-Colette Fauré – IAALD 2010, Montpellier (France)
  5. 5. A current awareness systemA project for an interactive and organized relationship between AHD and livestock production sector.  To improve visibility to animal health and veterinary public organization  Complexity of the animal health and veterinary public health organization in France  A wide variety of entities involved  To share and disseminate relevant information  To develop inter-professional collaboration through p p g internet.Marie-Colette Fauré – IAALD 2010, Montpellier (France)

CERISA and VELISA (1) AHD T l available on th I t Tools il bl the Internet t--> Main outcome of AHD’s socio-professionalcurrent-awareness process on Internet.Easy-access tools for direct use by professionals Tools based on Web 2.0 technologies :  possibilities of geolocation  syndication feed to make information available in real time or to syndicate the content of other sites  ergonomic interfaces.Marie-Colette Fauré – IAALD 2010, Montpellier (France)
  7. 7. How do we manage these projects ?
  8. 8. A reference terminology : a helpful tool for the design f d i of CERISA Structuring role of the reference terminology of animal diseases The purpose of a reference terminology  Organizing the collection phase  Consoladating the information processing phase  Simplifying access to the information access for professionals Marie-Colette Fauré – IAALD 2010, Montpellier (France)

  13. 13. Information management : Priority to quality Collecting and selecting information  Collection phase organised with the terminology (prioritization of the diseases, terms of queries…)  Selection criteria to objectivize the selection Processing and analysis to produce useful knowledge for professionals  Analysing information about stakeholders involved (role, specialisation, skills…)  Resources : full text, information accessible to a non- scientific but well-informed public, quality of the information… Marie-Colette Fauré – IAALD 2010, Montpellier (France)
