Malinda Thank you for joining us tonight for an evening of adventure into PBS Teachers; fantastic resources available online for the PreK-12 classrooms in all curriculum areas. We’ll delve into our Teachers area, followed by a visit to PBS Teachers Connect, our new online social network and then take a look at our online professional development tool, PBS TeacherLine. To overcome some of the issues experienced in SL when watching a slide presentation, we have planned this evening to include a visit to the actual websites we are introducing and will conclude the adventure with a prize drawing of $5000L. First, we’ll start of with about a 15 minute overview of PBS Teachers and then give you a scavenger hunt to be turned in by 6:45 slt. At the end of the evening, we will conclude the presentation with a grand prize drawing of $5000L. This will be a random drawing of everyone who turns in their scavenger hunts by 6:45 slt. Each participant in tonight’s program will receive a PBS Teachers lunchbox stocked with sandwich, apple, cookies and chocolate milk. Just the perfect thing for your hungry avatar! Those of us presenting tonight represent a part of PBS from around the organization and across the nation. It is my honor and privilege to introduce you to two of my colleagues from PBS working here with me in SL. Kim Flack is from ASSET Channel Eight in Phoenix, AZ. She is an Associate Director for Education and as such represents PBS resources in Arizona’s schools and classrooms. Kim is an expert in educational technology and served as president of Arizona Technology Education Association, the Arizona affiliate of ISTE. Shawn Rider is the manager of Technology for PBS TeacherLine and PBS Peer Connection. He is primarily involved in the design and presentation of TeacherLine courses online and has recently developed these modules for presentation on moodle servers. Shawn has a long history with education and gaming. He also has a long history with Second Life as he was a beta tester for Linden Labs back in the day. Shawn has seen some amazing things happen in SL and is so excited to see what educators are doing now here in SL and is a staunch supporter for virtual worlds in education. I represent KLRN in San Antonio, Texas and had the great privilege to help host the NECC conference this last summer. My work here is in representing our great resources from PBS Education and our wonderful partnership with ISTE. As such we have had many great adventures together, whether hosting music events or building the Alamo, it has been my distinct pleasure to work with all of you here. And welcome to our newest members, you are in for your own GREAT adventures! So let’s get started with Kim and PBS Teachers. In our introductions, could we ask them to share who they are, where they are from, and their role in education just by typing it in chat?
