NCLB <ul><li>An online resource tool for self-assessment of fundamental knowledge and skills. </li></ul><ul><li>Requires that students be technology literate by the end of the eighth grade. </li></ul><ul><li>Texas Technology Applications curriculum supports teaching, learning, and integration </li></ul>
  4. 4. Teacher STaR Chart <ul><li>Establishes a clear framework for measuring how well teachers are prepared to equip students with the knowledge and skills they need to strive in today’s information and communication technologies economy </li></ul>

Campus STaR Chart <ul><li>Designed to help campuses and districts determine their progress toward meeting the goals of the Long-Range Plan for Technology, as well as meeting the goals of their district </li></ul><ul><li>Data from the chart is used to report progress toward the requirements in NCLB, Title II, Part D </li></ul>
  6. 6. Survey <ul><li>Texas campuses must complete the survey online and use the profile annually to gauge their progress in integrating technology into the school and aligning with national and state standards ( http://www.tea.state.tx.us/starchart ). </li></ul>
  7. 7. There are 4 or less students per computer. There is direct connectivity to internet. 2008-09: 2 2007-08: 2 2006-07: 3 2008-09: 13 2007-08: 13 2006-07: 18 Infrastructure for Technology Campus aligned with Long-Range Plan for Technology. Uses local funding. 2008-09: 2 2007-08: 2 2006-07: 2 2008-09: 14 2007-08: 13 2006-07: 12 Leadership, Administration, & Instructional Support Teachers use technology for administrative tasks and classroom management. They must attend more staff development trainings to acquire the knowledge needed to assist students in their classroom. 2008-09: 2 2007-08: 2 2006-07: 2 2008-09: 12 2007-08: 11 2006-07: 12 Educator Preparation & Development Instruction is teacher-directed. Students regularly use technology for some projects and information.
