  • 1. Purdue Exponent Photo Procedures Everything you need to know to make money as a photographer at The Exponent ...
  • 2. “ Hey I just took this totally awesome picture! Now what do I do?” Well, If you want it in tomorrow's paper – GET IT IN BY 5:30 pm! Of course earlier is always appreciated too.
  • 3. Second Floor of the Exponent Building (AKA The Newsroom) GO TOWARDS THE LIGHT AT THE END OF THE ROOM!!!!
  • 4. Make sure to Bring your Memory Card!!!! Card Goes Here!
  • 5. Open the Photos Server...
  • 6. Make a New, aptly named, folder within the proper sub-folders
  • 7. Drag a picture from your new folder into Photomechanic (This opens all pictures in that folder)
  • 8. Select ALL of your images Go to Image>IPTC Stationary Pad
  • 9.
    • Make sure to fill in your name and title in the comments box (top right)
    • Make sure your info is right in the bottom left
    • Make sure the correct categories and sub-categories are selected
    • Click “Apply IPTC Stationary to Selected” and the info box will close itself
    • Now go through your pictures (double click on one and navigate with the arrow keys) and select your winners (by pushing the '1' button on the keyboard)
  • 10. Now Caption your Selected (pink) photos – names, names, names!
  • 11. A Few Final Words
    • Once you are finished captioning your photos, close photomechanic and re-open your pictures in it
    • Double Check to make sure your captions have “stuck”
    • Do not use the C-fit toning software (that's my job)
    • Do not change any settings on either the monitor or in photoshop (they are both calibrated to our printing press)
    • Make sure to get the names of the people in your photos – and make sure they are correct!
