  1. 1. Long ago a great athletics festival washeld at Olympia in Greece. Every 4 yearsmen came from all over Greece to takepart.
  2. 2. The Olympics take place every 4 years,each time in a different country. Men andwomen from all over the world take part.
  3. 3. From 7 days before the games until 7days after they ended, all fightingstopped. Even when a battle had been longand fierce, soldiers put down theirweapons.
  4. 4. The Olympic Games don’t stop wars,but they encourage peace and friendship.
  5. 5. Women were notallowed to compete inthe games, and onlypriestesses wereallowed to watch them.
  6. 6. Women athletes take part in all sports.
