Materials ! You will need: ! 1 strip of felt ! 1 LED ! Condutive thread ! Regular thread ! 1 CR2032 battery ! 1 battery holder ! 1 LED ! Decorations ! Sewing needle and scissors
LED’s ! Light Emitting Diodes ! Emit light when electricity runs through them ! Only work if the electricity is going in the right direction ! If you connect the long wire to the positive side of the battery and the short wire to the negative side, it works ! Connect it the wrong way, though, and nothing happens
Step 2 – add snaps ! Using conductive thread, sew one half of the snap near the end of the strip (sew lots of conductive thread through the loops of the snap to make a good connection when the snap closes) ! On the back side of the strip sew the other half of the snap so that when the strip is closed in a circle, the two halves snap together
Step 3 – add light ! Cut a slit in the strip for the LED lighs ! Poke the LED light bulb through the hole so the metal is on the back and the bulb is on the front of the bracelet
Sew lights & battery holder ! On the back of the bracelet, sew the positive (square) side of the LED to one of the snaps ! Sew the positive side of the battery holder (the one with the three plastic prongs) to the other snap ! Sew the negative (round) side of the LED to the negative side of the battery holder ! Slip the battery into the battery holder negative (rough) side down
Decorate ! Add decorations to the front of the bracelet – fabric glue or felt glue is great for this ! Snap the bracelet on your wrist and watch it light up
