NOTES:• All 5Es do not necessarily occur every day• A formative assessment should be incorporated into all parts of the 5E model• Teachers direct teach is VERY minimal: deliberate questioning strategies should guide discussions• Any one of the Es may occur more than once within a complete lesson cycle• A complete lesson cycle will include all 5Es even if it is over the course of days• A 5E lesson must align to the SE and MUST eventually reach the depth of the verb• Guided practice must be embedded into the lesson before independent practice is assigned to evaluate students- “Practice makes permanent”- Sousa
