    • THE LOVE OF GOD The Attributes of God Series February 14, 2010
    • The Love of God
      • Introduction
        • Question: What is love?
        • Sa simula pa lang, God is love.
        • When you get the love of God, you will be loved like you’ve never been love before, or ever could be.
      • Rom 5:1, 8

    •
    •
    • “ Father…forgive them…”
      • God manifested His love by providing salvation to the sinful men (that is all of us). If you want to know the deeper meaning of love, look at what Jesus did for you.
    • SET GOD’S LOVE AS YOUR STANDARD OF LOVE
    • How did God loved us?
      • 1. God visibly expressed it
      • 2. God loved us sacrificially
      • 3. God seeks for our benefit
      • 4. God loved us unconditionally
      • 5. God’s love is judicial
      • 6. God’s love is emotional
    • I. GOD VISIBLY EXPRESSED IT.
      • True love is always visibly expressed.
      • God expressed His love in creation
      • But, God showed His love most not in creation but when He gave His son Jesus, hanging on the cross for us all to see the full expression of His love for us.
      • invisible love is no love at all!
    • II. GOD LOVED US SACRIFICIALLY
      • true love is always willing to pay a price for the benefit of another
        • ….true love is sacrificial
      • QUESTION: Was there a time in your life that you were questioning God about His love for you?
      • Awit 22:14
      • “ Parang tubig na tumapon, ang lakas ko ay tumakas,
      • Ang lahat kong mga buto sa wari ko ay nalinsad;
      • Sa dibdib ko ay naghari ang malaking pagkasindak
      • Parang pagkit ang puso ko, natutunaw naaagnas!”
      • 1 Cor. 13:4-5
      • Ang pag-ibig ay matiyaga at magandang-loob,
      • hindi maiinggitin,
      • hindi mayabang ni mapagmataas man, v 5 hindi magaspang ang pag-uugali,
      • hindi makasarili,
      • hindi magagalitin, o mapagtanim sa kapwa.
    • III. GOD’S LOVE ALWAYS SEEKS FOR OUR BENEFIT
      • true love always seeks to benefit the one you loved.
      • Godly love does not seek his own interest but rather that which is beneficial to others.
    • IV.GOD’S LOVE IS UNCONDITIONAL
      • Romans 5:8
      • “ Ngunit ipinadama ng Diyos ang kanyang pag-ibig sa atin nang mamatay si Cristo para sa atin noong tayo'y makasalanan pa.“
      • to love unconditionally means we should not measure the person whether he is worthy to be loved or not.
      • Jesus did not wait for us to repent first before He died on the cross …remember, He died when we are still sinners
      • true love does not have to be earned , it should be our decision to give it freely.
      • Deut. 7:7-8
      • "Pinili niya kayo at inibig hindi dahil mas marami kayo kaysa ibang mga bansa, sa katunayan, kayo pa nga ang pinakakaunti sa lahat. v 8 Pinili niya kayo dahil sa pagibig niya sa inyo , at sa kanyang pangako sa inyong mga ninuno. Ito rin ang dahilan kaya niya kayo iniligtas sa kamay ng Faraon sa pamamagitan ng kanyang kapangyarihan.”
    • V. GOD’S LOVE IS JUDICIAL
      • 1 Cor. 13:6
      • “ Hindi niya ikinatutuwa ang gawaing masama, ngunit ikinagagalak ang katotohanan.”
      • love hates what is wrong and embraces what is right.
      • God is very concerned about right and wrong.
      • Heb. 12:6
      • “… sapagkat dinidisiplina ng Panginoon ang kanyang minamahal, at pinarurusahan ang bawat itinuturing na anak.”
      • Love does not tolerate wrong…the loving thing to do is to correct. You do not love when you do not correct.
    • VI. GOD’S LOVE IS EMOTIONAL
      • true love always feels
      • emotion by itself doesn’t equal love, but you can’t have true love without feeling
      • Phils. 1:8
      • “ Nalalaman ng Diyos na ang pananabik ko sa inyo ay kasinlaki ng pagmamahal sa inyo ni Cristo Jesus.”
      • feelings doesn’t necessarily mean you love, but if you truly love, you will feel.
    • CONCLUSION:
      • So God’s love is always visible, sacrificial, beneficial, unconditional, judicial and emotional. And we’ll spend the rest of our lives trying to live up to that standard.
      • 1 John 4:19-20
      • “ Tayo'y umiibig sapagkat ang Diyos ang unang umibig sa atin. v 20 Ang nagsasabing "Iniibig ko ang Diyos," at napopoot naman sa kanyang kapatid ay sinungaling. Kung yaong kapatid na kanyang nakikita ay hindi niya maibig, paano niya maiibig ang Diyos na hindi nakikita?”
      • Conclusion: Get consumed by the love of God
      • when you get consumed by the love of God, it overflows you and spills out onto others.
      • If God has poured His overflowing love into your heart, others can’t help getting hit by the splash.
      • So let’s go, let’s enjoy the love of God and spread it out to others….and to Him be all the glory!
