Types of Diet

  1. 1. General Motors Diet• General Motors Diet plan is a program that was developed for employees of General Motors company for their good health , wellness, fitness and even weight loss• This diet plan works as an internal detoxification for the body• GM Diet plan is a seven days plan.

General Motors Diet• Day 1 - Only fruits but no bananas• Day 2 - All kinds of vegetables including cooked and raw vegetables• Day 3 - Mixture of vegetables and fruits of your choice but strictly no bananas yet and no potatoes today• Day 4 - Bananas and milk. Three glasses of milk and eat as many as eight bananas• Day 5 - Eat beef and tomatoes + Lots of water• Day 6 - Eat beef and vegetables.• Day 7 – Eat some brown rice, fruit juices and all type of the vegetables to eat.

Atkins Diet• In 1972, Dr. Robert Atkins published Dr. Atkins Diet Revolution which advocated a low-carbohydrate diet he had successfully used in treating patients in the 1960s• In this diet plan, the intake of carbohydrate is very very low but the fat and protein intake is moderate to high• THE DOWN SIDE: headache, nausea, irritability, sudden dizziness, constipation, leads to deficiencies• A high protein diet leads to high uric acid levels, and hence has been identified as a risk factor for gout and kidney stones

Paleolithic Diet• The Paleolithic Diet (abbreviated paleo diet), is also popularly referred to as the caveman diet, Stone Age diet and hunter-gatherer diet• The Paleolithic diet is a modern dietary regimen that seeks to mimic the diet of pre agricultural hunter-gatherers• It consists of foods that can be hunted and fished, such as meat,and seafood, and can be gathered, such as eggs, insects, fruit, nuts, seeds, vegetables, mushrooms, herbs and spices• Exclusions : mainly grains, legumes (e.g. beans and peanuts), dairy products, salt, refined sugar and processed oils , processed foods.

The diet recommends that this blood group eat a higher protein diet• Blood group A The diet recommends that this blood group eat a higher protein diet, The diet recommends that individuals of blood group A eat a diet emphasizing vegetables and free of red meat, a more vegetarian food intake• Blood group B is the nomad says DAdamo, associated with a strong immune system and a flexible digestive system. He asserts that people of blood type B are the only ones who can thrive on dairy products.

It replaces "bad carbs" and "bad fats" with "good carbs" and "good fats”• The South Beach Diet eliminates carbohydrate sources like refined sugar and grains in favor of relatively unprocessed foods such as vegetables, beans, and whole grains. Carbohydrate sources are considered "good" only if they have a low glycemic index• The South Beach Diet eliminates trans-fats and discourages saturated fats, replacing them with foods rich in unsaturated fats and omega-3 fatty acid. Specifically, the diet excludes the fatty portions of red meat and poultry, replacing them with lean meats, nuts, and oily fish.

Cabbage Soup Diet• The cabbage soup diet is a radical weight loss diet designed around heavy consumption of a low-calorie cabbage soup over the time of seven days• It is generally considered a fad diet in that it is designed for short-term weight-loss and requires no long-term commitment• The typical claimed intent of the diet is to lose 10 pounds (4.5 kg) of weight in a week, though nutritional experts point out that it is nearly impossible to lose that much fat within a week. This has lent credence to claims that much of the weight lost is water

It is also called the lemon juice detox• It is actually a detoxification diet where the body is cleansed of the toxins that get accumulated due to unhealthy diet and lifestyle. Though people take up this diet for the purpose of losing weight

By the effective mono diets consider the following: apple, watermelon, wheat, buckwheat, rice and even chocolate mono diet• The Down Side – mono diets leads to deficiencies. For example, apples do not have proteins, rice contributes to thickening of the bile and the formation of stones in the gallbladder, lowers hemoglobin in the blood and causes a lack of vitamins• Mono diets become boring after a while. It can make one binge after following mono diets for some days.

The Acai Berry Diet involves supplementing the acai berry into a low calorie diet• Dr. Perricone highlighted the berry as the number one antioxidant food on the Oprah show• Oprah herself mentioned that she has incorporated the berry into her diet, which caused an explosion in the popularity of acai berry based weight loss plans

Acai Berry Diet• The acai berry is promoted primarily for its antioxidant effects, which exceed that of other foods that are high in antioxidants such as blueberries and red wine• These antioxidants will enhance general well-being and vitality which will support weight loss• The Down Side - Does not encourage dieters to make lifestyle changes.- Supports the idea of a quick fix approach to weight loss- It is very expensive
