  • 1. PETROCHEMICALS IN ECUADOR { TEACHER: MSc. Max Galarza • • • • • • • STUDENTS: STEEVEN ASTUDILLO LEYDY ALVARADO ALAN DURANGO MELISA MOINA DAVID SALTOS FÉLIX VERA
  • 2. INTRODUCTION   Petrochemicals are chemical products derived from petroleum. Some chemical compounds made from petroleum are also obtained from other fossil fuels, such as coal or natural gas, or renewable sources such as corn or sugar cane. The two most common petrochemical classes are olefins (including ethylene and propylene) and aromatics (including benzene, toluene and xyl ene isomers). Oil refineries produce olefins and aromatics by fluid catalytic cracking of petroleum fractions.
  • 3. “Refinería del Pacifico”
  • 4. MISSION • Design and build Refining and Petrochemical Complex, under international standards of quality and safety, according to the legal framework and policies. VISION • Start the “Refineria del Pacifico” operations with efficient and effective processes, meeting quality standards and social responsibility, to satisfy domestic fuel demand and export surplus.
  • 5. GENERAL OBJECTIVES Design and construct the “Refineria del Pacifico Eloy Alfaro”, with a processing capacity of 300,000 barrels per day in two phases, with deep conversion technology, required for the production of gasoline, diesel, liquefied petroleum gas and petrochemical streams for meet domestic fuel demand and export surplus.
  • 6. Avoid capital output. Turning Ecuador into a country exporting of petroleum products. Eliminate discharges of wastewater flowing into the rivers: Manta, burro, and Manta beaches. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
  • 7. “Refineria del Pacifico Eloy Alfaro" is actually an ambitious construction and commissioning operation of a medium-scale petrochemical industry, With an estimated cost of 12,500 million that could easily scale to the amount of 14,000 million, this project can be qualified as the most expensive in the history of Ecuador
  • 8. LOCATION: Manabí Province PROJECT END: Estimated in 2017. PROJECT COST: $12 500 million dollars INVESTORS: EPP Petroecuador – PDVSA China National Petroleum Corp. SAVING TO OUR COUNTRY: $3.000’ per year EMPLOYMENT: 25000 working places. PRODUCTION CAPACITY: 300000 oil barrels per day.
  • 9. Jurong Consultants has experience in developing projects related to oil, gas and petrochemical industry, in Singapore and globally. Chinese company CNPC is the third partner in the refinery Pacific. The China National Petroleum Corp (CNPC) is one of the main partners in financing the construction the refinery contributing U.S. $12,000 million in Ecuador. Its flagship project is the Petrochemical Center in Jurong Island. It is also one of the leading petrochemical center worldwide. New Investor (CNPC)
  • 10. ARTICLE BY “EL UNIVERSO”: Correa, was quoted by the Ministry of Communication of the Presidency, stressed the interest of several countries to invest in the project, whose cost is estimated at $ 12,500 million. "There are many stakeholders and things are going extremely well ," the president added , referring to the interest shown by countries like Russia , China , South Korea and Iran , among others. "It's the most important projects in the history of Ecuador " and " will allow export derivatives" to other countries in the region and Asia, said Correa. Correa called a " nonsense " that his country, which has oil exports as their main source of income , currently spend a lot of money to import oil from oil production shortfalls due to fuel refineries it owns. According to Correa, the project is within the time and work schedule established for the construction of the complex , which will be located in the coastal province of Manabí.
  • 11. 83,700 barrels per day of gasoline; 171,400 barrels per day of diesel; 7,400 barrels per day of liquefied petroleum gas; GENERAL PRODUCTION 6,000 barrels per day of jet fuel (Jet Fuel);
  • 12. 100 metric tons per year of polypropylene; 2,500 barrels per day of benzene; PETROCHEMICAL PRODUCTION 4,600 barrels per day of Xylene.
