It is a line of media players that was launched to the public in 2001 by Apple, severalmonths after they released iTunes. The line includes products like the Classic, Touch, the Nanoand the Shuffle.Apple introduced their successful line of portable media players at an event in September 2007called "The Beat Goes On." The Apple iPod Touch was the first with wireless access to the iTunesStore and Apples App store. This allowed people to purchase their music and apps fromanywhere and download it instantly to their device. There was no longer a need to have to gothrough your desktop to get your music or apps.The second generation was released in September 2008 and featured a built in speaker, externalvolume control, built in Bluetooth support and the ability to connect to a microphone. The back ofthe second generation is contoured.The third generation touch was released in September 2009. It featured a flash memory availablein 32GB or 64 GB. It contained everything the second generation had, at a faster speed. It had alower battery life, a light sensor, voice control and ear phones with a remote and microphone.In September 2010, the fourth generation Touch was released and featured Apples Retina displayand two cameras. One camera is in the front so the user can utilize Skype and Facetime, the otheris on the back for photos and video.
