Great show. I am an advocate of affordable homes to help poor people. I wish there was a way to get things done faster and have more people get involved. Such a shame to see children lying on the floor and calling that their bed. Sad.

0865990 Shipping Container Homes - Presentation Transcript

  1. Turning Shipping containers into Homes
    • Most Mexicans are living below the poverty line or are low class
    • Most of these people are homeless
  2.
    • Those containers could easily be shipped down south to countries (Mexico)
    • 1 in 11 people are living without a home
    • The containers can withstand water and wind damage, conditions found in Mexico
    • The main reason to provide homes for undeveloped nations is because of the vast number of people who die every year due to a preventable cause.
    • Most of us are lucky to have clean water, proper sewage disposal and insect free homes.
    • The houses will contain a bedroom, living room and bathroom area as well as a separate area for the kitchen.
    • The process is relatively simple; adding slabs of drywall to differentiate between rooms and adding a simple pipe line to run the clean water.
    • The bar graph shows the preventable causes of death in Mexico annually
    • Poor sanitation, bad water and poor housing (totalling 425 000 deaths) can all be prevented by proper housing
  3.
    • Dark red patches are areas living off less then $2 a day
    • These are the people who need homes
    • Recycled homes looks to target these people
  4. Children who lost their homes to a hurricane
