Racism is prevalent in various forms of media including news coverage, television shows, and local newspapers. Yahoo! News pictures of looters in New Orleans portrayed African Americans more negatively than whites in similar situations. The owner of the LA Clippers was suspended and fined for making racist comments about not allowing African Americans at games. The TV show Game of Thrones depicted the white queen surrounded by a sea of darker-skinned people in a potentially problematic way. WWE had performers dress up in racially insensitive costumes, and a newspaper in Virginia published a racist voicemail message before apologizing due to protests.

---Clippers owner, Donald Sterling tells his girlfriend not to bring African-
American (“black”) people to the Clipper games. He is now suspended from
attending all games for life. He was also fined 2.5 million dollars. They are also
pushing to “force a sale” of the team.
3. Game of Thrones:
---The mother of dragons Dearnerys Targaryn stands outside the walls of Yunkai
waiting for the slaves she had just freed wanting them to join her slave free army. The
white, blonde haired queen moves into a crowd of outstretched “brown” arms like a
shining queen in a sea of darkness.
4. WWE:
---Peter Jackson had African American men (wrestlers) dress up and pretend to be
voodoo priests, headhunters, and African Tribesmen. He had Mexicans ride up to
the ring on lawnmowers.
5. Newspaper in Charlottesville Va :
---Posts a voice message in a column: “To all you black (expletive) running up
here in Charlottesville restaurants looking for free food, we wouldn’t be known as
a restaurant, we’d be known as a food bank”. The message goes on. After
protests outside of their office, the newspaper issues an apology.
