    • 7. What did we need?
      • Flexibility easy to use
      • Easy to use and maintain with 0.5 time educators
      • Able to present information uploading PPTs, documents and video
      • Need to track and evaluate learners
      • Must be cost effective
    • 8. The Online Mission
      • To provide the education and training to enable the STARS team to safely and effectively execute its mission and meet all regulatory requirements
    • 9. The Blackboard Experiment
      • Working with a Blackboard course site since 2003
      • Primarily used by AMC, some Aviation use
      • Provided effective platform for posting monthly articles & presentations
      • Initially run by only one staff member
      • No specific content designed for on-line use
      • Did serve the initial needs
      • One course site
      • Limited support
      • Unresponsive to calls
    • 10. Why Moodle?
    • 11. Integration Challenges
      • “ We are not in the business of education.”
      • “ It costs so much less. Is it really any good?”
      • “ Do you really need me to fix it today?”
      • “ Can I do this from home? I flew my whole shift.”
      • “ It didn’t cost anything so why do you still budget for curriculum development?”
    • 12. The Present
      • “ That was fun, I’d have liked it to go further.”
      • “ Can this be done on Moodle?”
      • “ Remote access is so helpful, can we get it more stable?”
      • “ I think Moodle should be able to do this.”
      • “ This is fun, can I learn to do this?”
    • 13. Successes
      • Champions developing in various departments
      • Sharing curriculum development and uploading to encourage use across Education team
      • Formalized Moodle training has been available
      • Participating in conferences
      • Staying on top of upgrades - factored in the workload for IT
    • 14. The Future
      • Moodle has joined the STARS family.
      • We are, in fact, a fully operational education department providing a variety of blended and online learning programs.
      • More Community Learning - internally & externally
      • Moodle will be given more attention for support and utilization.
