Multistate Corridor Operationsand Management Program GrantThis notice invites existing and potential multistate organizations, coalitions, or otherarrangements or entities engaged in corridor transportation activities and research toapply for participation in the Multistate Corridor Operations and Management (MCOM)Program authorized by the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, and Efficient TransportationEquity Act: A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU) Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)Research program. The purpose of the MCOM program is to promote regionalcooperation, planning, and shared project implementation for research programs andprojects to improve multimodal transportation system management and operations.This notice seeks applications for available fiscal year (FY) 2011 funding ($7 million),which will be provided to cover a maximum of 80 percent of proposed program/projectcosts. Multiple awards are possible, but not guaranteed.ITS Heartland is the crossroads of our nation, including 5 states and 25 metropolitanareas. The major commerce and transportation corridors are: I-70, I-35, I-29, I-44, and I-80. This project will address: multistate integration of ITS devices, regional incidentmanagement coordination, enhanced traveler information, research, policy andperformance measures.

Future Direction OWG Role/Functions  Monthly Conference Calls  Sponsor Webinars/Workshops ○ Oct 2011 – Best Practices for Regional Operations (31 Participants) – NW Passage, I-95 Coalition, I-80 Coalition  Oversee and implement approved priority projects  Maintain/update the OWG Wiki website – Public & Private sites  Vice-chair will act as liaison with ITS Heartland Board and inform of group activities, needs & issues

Future Direction Group Communication  Main reason for OWG  Facilitate communications between TMCs and DOT personnel throughout region to promote safe and efficient highway management and facilitate communications to the traveling public  Continue work on a Regional Coordination Guidelines document to facilitate efficient, consistent communications  Encourage regional cooperation

Funding Update ITS Heartland Board balance $1,000 for this past FY. Spent $600 for this symposium Balance = $400

OWG Website Great way to share information with OWG  Secure  Easily accessible VERY helpful during Missouri River Flooding last year. Created a public version this year which is linked to on the main ITS Heartland website. 12
