    2. HISTORY
      • San José del Fragua was funded by a group of colons, who wanted to establish a town in the Fragua’s river region in 1959; it was named ‘San Jose’ in honor of the Italian priest Jose Fusarolli who was one of the founders of the town. It received the status of municipality in 1985.
      • San José Del Fragua is a town with trendy tourist, taking into account different places of historical interesting that have a big natural and cultural value, but lack of recognition due to the lack projects to encourage tourism in this place.

    3. PARISH OF NUESTRA SEÑORA DE ARANZAZU
      • It is one of the most beautiful places in the town, it was built in 1967 and is considered as a cultural heritage of the mankind.
    4. CERRO DE ARANZAZU
      • This pilgrimage place is very important for the people of San José, they celebrated many of their religious rituals here.
    5. MARIANO MUÑOZ PARK
      • It was named ‘Mariano Muñoz’ in honor of the at one of the founders of the town.
    6. HYDROGRAPHIC The river’s Fragua offers a variety of places where you can go to swim and spend the whole day with your family and friends.
    7. APOLINAR’S STONE
      • This gigantic stone is considered by the Inganos as a monument for their rituals.
    8. CHARCO EL PUENTE Charco el Puente is located below the bridge in the road from San José to the south of the department because of the deepwater many people like to jump from the bridge.
    9. CHARCO EL SILENCIO
      • The quiet and silence waters of this natural pool are the reason of its name; it is located at one kilometer form San José.
    10. CHARCO RIO LARGO
      • This is a great swimming spot because there are deep water and shallow water areas so children and adults can go there; it receives its name because of the length of the place approximately two hundred meters.
    11. CHARCO LAS LAJAS
      • A natural pool surrounded by soft stones (lajas), It is appreciated by the people of San José and tourist because the deep of the water varies, making the place appropriate for person of all ages.
    12. EL PORTAL DEL FRAGÜITA
      • This is the place were the slope is divided by F ragüita river, it is a magnificent landscape.

    14. SPORT CENTER “LUÍS ANÍBAL CORRALES”
      • It was named ‘Luís Aníbal Corrales’ in honor at one police who died in a Guerilla fighter attack.
