The New MACR: Tech Intro Presentation Transcript

  • 1. Welcome to the new MACR An Introduction to new tools in the age of social media
  • 2. New Beginnings Start with New Technology
    • Since being elected last month, members of the new MACR administration have been working hard to filter through new technologies in search of web solutions to connect College Republicans from across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
    • In this presentation, we would like to introduce to you to some of the tools aimed at accomplishing that task.
  • 3. Web 2.0: Filtering Through
    • With hundreds of new applications coming on the scene, it is getting increasingly hard to separate the good from the bad. We want to use only the best.
  • 4. Fulfilling Promises During the campaign, we pledged that we would work to break down the bureaucratic structure of the MACR by providing tools aimed at giving individual clubs a greater say in the direction of the organization. “ We will implement social media tools like wikis and blogs so that you can create and view critical information. We will make greater use of existing tools like Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter, so that you're always aware of what the community is doing. We will rebuild our website and brand from scratch so that you can easily find the information that you need.” So without further ado, we turn to the tools….

    • Our new, fresh-looking blog hosted our new server provides us much greater freedom for its future.
    • Provides a forum for CRs to comment on (and, if you like, write) the stories that matter - whether they are happening on Beacon Hill or on Capitol Hill.

    • Allows clubs to update club information on the fly, by giving each club a presence on the web.
    • No need to contact webmaster to update.
    • Log in with your Facebook account and edit pages like you would any other document.

    • Allows the MACR to reach individual club members more efficiently by getting information about events and updates directly into your news feed
    • Integrated with the MACR blog and Twitter.
    • Accountability: Posting place for E-board minutes, and other documents relating to MACR activities.
