  • 2. The Digestive System
    • Very important to body
    • Need food to live
    • Breaks down the food and turns it into smaller particles
    • Starts before you even take a bite of food
    • After process body gets rid of waste
  • 3. The Salivary Glands
    • They create saliva that contains an enzyme
    • Enzyme starts digestive process
  • 4. The Mouth
    • Digestive system starts in mouth
    • Starts when food is broken down
  • 5. The Anus
    • Opening stools or faeces pass out of rectum to leave body
    • Stools/faeces are waste products created by digestion
  • 6. The Pancreas
    • Part that makes and delivers digestive juices
    • Goes through tube called, pancreatic duct
  • 7. The Liver
    • Produces bile
    • Stores bile until needed for digestion
    • Bile is liquid discharged from liver (yellowish, green)
  • 8. The Rectum
    • Lowermost part of large intestine
    • Stores waste until body gets rid of it
  • 9. The Gallbladder
    • Pouch shaped organ
    • Accepts bile from liver and stores it
    • Releases bile into small intestine, where able to help dissolve fats
