Core 21 focuses on teaching 21st century skills like collaboration, creativity, leadership, and global awareness. Students work on project-based learning activities where they research real-world problems in groups and present solutions. The curriculum also emphasizes common core standards in writing, speaking, and language. Students are assessed on a scale of 1 to 4 for meeting standards on report cards. One example of an activity had students assigned partners and problems to research, then prepare and share presentations with other groups.

9. What are 21st Century Skills?
21st Century Skills are skills used in todays time, or the
21st Century. Most of these skills include using the
computer or other modern devices like Apple’s ‘iPad and
iPhone’. They also have to do with Global Awareness or
being a leader and having responsibility in groups.
Creativity is also needed today with thinking and problem
solving.
21st Century Skills are common and modern skills used in
the Core 21 class.
11. Thinking and Working Creatively
With Others:
● Working with others to come up with more creative and
efficient ideas.
● Being open to new ideas and listening to your group
● Allowing your group to make mistakes and learning from
them
By Yourself:
● Writing your ideas down and crossing some out
● Combining multiple ideas into one, big, and more
informative idea
● Having a positive attitude about the finished product
13. Leadership and Responsibility
Leadership and Responsibility are important for trust and a
bit of control for group work. Demonstrating responsibility
and integrity have the possibility to persuade or influence
people into making a certain decision or helping with work.
Taking responsibility for your actions is also important
because it makes you look like the bigger person and
shows others that you are capable of being a leader.
Leadership and Responsibility are both important 21st
Century Skills.
15. Global Awareness
Global Awareness is when you know what’s going on
around you and in different countries. This is important
because countries like Africa hold families that are starving,
and it is crucial for them to be helped. If you have Global
Awarenes, that is easier to achieve.
It is also important to be globally aware because it may
help in a future war. Some countries are not fully informed
on why they are declaring war,so it may not even be for the
best reasons. If you are globally aware, you can prevent
this from happening and keep peace in the world.
16. Conclusion
Core 21 is very important in the 21st Century. These skills
are crucial in today’s environment. In the end, to be a
globally aware, creative, responsible leader is a good way
to incorporate the Core 21 standards.
