Nougat (Mantolato) of Zakynthos
• Mantolato is the locally produced nougat made
with egg whites, almonds, very little sugar and
a lot of honey .
• Nougat is produced in natural conditions of
heat and humidity and ,at the same time, it has
to be protected from these.
It doesn’t contain any preservatives at all and you can
keep it out of the fridge for 10 days in the summer . It
needs always to be protected from humidity and if it
starts to get soft, it has to get immediately in the fridge.
