    • IGT Board comprised of representatives of the Executive Partner organizations:
        • Oxford Brookes University, Isis Innovation, Oxford Innovation, Science Oxford, Business Link, Oxfordshire County Council, the Oxfordshire Economic Partnership, LeaderShape, the Technology Strategy Board and NESTA .
      • Chaired by Martin Dare-Edwards representing a large global, Oxfordshire-headquartered, innovative, high technology company
      • Our remaining Board members are two of Oxfordshire’s highly successful entrepreneurs who have committed their support to the IGT - Stuart Miller of Bybox and Bruce Savage of GFC Diagnostics.
  • 5. Oxfordshire Innovation and Growth Team “Collaborative Innovation”
    • The IGT Board have worked together to develop a strategy and plan to achieve our vision of creating a vibrant community of our most ambitious and innovative businesses (the “ Community of Innovation ”) which will truly establish Oxfordshire as a world class Innovation hotspot.
    • Oxfordshire already has significant strengths in innovation - there are few places in the world with better support for and a track record with start-ups. However there is a lot more that could be done and by working together we aim to inspire and mobilise everyone in Oxfordshire’s innovation ecosystem to put their energy and resources behind realising our ambitious vision.
  • 6. Why the formation of South East Business Innovation & Growth Teams?
    • A new approach to Business Support
    • Supporting innovative and high growth companies
    • Reduce multiple programme confusion
    • Create a “ Community of Innovation ” in Oxfordshire
    • Funded by SEEDA
  • 7. Why is SEEDA doing this…
    • Across the South East region:
    • Intensively support 2,000 innovative and high growth potential businesses
    • Engage further 4,000 businesses in local “ Communities of Innovation ” - transformational impact by 2016
    • Focus on emerging markets (e.g. Biotech, Medical, Green and Clean…)
    • Raise “business to business” collaboration levels, knowledge transfer and open innovation - business growth drivers
    • Bring together local drivers of innovation to ensure local resources fully committed to a shared business growth goal
    • £500 million boost to the South East economy & Extra £250 million in investment over the next two years.

    • Typical filters: openness, aspiration and attitude ability and capacity amount of external finance sought evidence of strong order book willingness to invest time willingness to innovate desire to collaborate
    • Four segments: High growth start-ups and scalable micros; step-change, small to medium, £1m+ t/o; (“Bambi’s”) step-change, medium to large, £10m+ t/o; (“Gazelles”) large knowledge generators, £100m+ t/o (“Elephants”)
