If you are moving to the UK with UPakWeShip you will need to complete a UK Customs form called a C3. This presentation shows you how to complete the form and gives you useful information and tips. This form is also required for all UPakWeShip customers using a shared container, baggage, U Box, U Crate or lift van service to all EU countries in Europe.

1. This form must be completed for
all part load and container
shipments going to the UK as
well as part load shipments being
delivered to Europe via the UK

picture is worth 1000 words, so hopefully you
will get a much better idea of how to complete
the customs form after watching this. You should
also have a better idea of how duties and taxes
work as well as items being shipped for
gifts, inheritance or if you are furnishing a

3. If you are moving your
normal residency from
overseas to the UK.
If you are shipping a
baggage, shared
container, U Box, U Crate or
lift van to anywhere in the
UK or Europe.
If you are shipping a
container of your belongings
to the UK

4. If you are shipping a car,
motorcycle or boat then you
need to complete a C104A or
C108 if a temporary import or
a C5 for your pet.
If you are not moving your
residency but moving goods
for furnishing a secondary
home you need to complete a
C33
If your part load shipment is
going to Switzerland or Norway
you do not complete a C3

5. You need to declare all items
are more than 6 months old.
You need to declare that you
have lived outside of Europe
for the last 12 months
You are moving your
residency to UK or Europe
within 6 months of arrival of
cargo

6. These are charged on all items that are declared
being less than 6 months old.
On all gifts.
On any commercial shipment e.g that has been
sold to someone or is for sale.
On a shipment where residence overseas was for
less than 12 months.
If you are not moving items within the 6 months
grace period of when you arrived.
If you have sold your holiday home and moving
contents back to the UK.

7. These are charged on all tobacco products and alcohol
in your shipment. You do not get any duty free
allowance in your shipment.
Duties and taxes are worked out based on the CIF
value that is the declared value of your items plus
the cost of shipping and insuring.
So if your items are worth $800, shipping was $500
and insurance was $100 then the vat (currently 20%)
would be $1400 x 20% plus the duty rate of the
items that would be an additional % of the
goods, insurance, shipping and tax price added up.
There would also be a processing and possible
courier fee on top of this as well.

8. The following shows you
how a well completed C3
looks like for duty and tax
free entry. Any deviance
from this can cause duties
and taxes to be charged
by customs.

9. On Page One: Enter your name and arrival date in UK or Europe
Leave the rest of page one blank, (we complete that bit)
Tip Complete in pen and print letters so its easy for customs to read it.

10. On Page two: Duty and Tax Relief. Question a
Question b
Where it says at the time of coming to the
UK, think EU. For duty free entry you need to
declare that you have been living out of the EU for
at least 12 months, date of moving can be same
date as on page one. Then answer how many
people are moving and how many are under 17.
Question b wants to make sure you have
not been overseas on a temporary trip. If
you declare yes you will pay duties and
taxes so in order to get your things in
duty and tax free you need to declare No

Are you moving on marriage? Self
explanatory!
For duty free entry you need to be
checking No. If you answer yes that
you have items less than 6 months
old, list items on next page. You
will be charged duties and taxes on
anything that is less than 6 months
old.

12. Question e
The page should now look something like this
Most people would not have bought
anything tax free so hopefully you will
be checking No and moving on to the
next page,

13. If nothing to declare write NONE in each box. Anything you list
here will be charged duty and taxes.

14. The Back Page
If you have answered questions like
we said then you were not
instructed to list anything on this
section so write NONE. Anything you
list here will be liable to duties and
taxes
Finish up by signing your name
and listing a contact address in
UK or Europe and a phone
number which can be a relative
or your work number if you don’t
have one yet.

15. You need to complete a packing list by numbering
your boxes / items and then making a list of
these numbers with the contents. We can email
you a template to do this or you can make your
own list in Word or Excel. The list needs to be
like this:
Box 1 Books
Box 2 Clothes
Box 3 Kitchenware etc etc
Think of the consequences before writing gun for
your kids toy gun or stuffed animal for your kids
soft toy and not a stuffed rare tiger or Elephant
with ivory tusks! Continued…..

16. No food is allowed for humans or pets in your shipment.
Any alcohol or tobacco products will be charged duty and
taxes and are not worth taking.
Miscellaneous, “pbo” stuff, gifts, bits & pieces are not
descriptions allowed by customs. You don’t have to be
exact with quantities or description per item but use
general words like:
toys, ornaments, bedding, clothes, kitchenware, dvd’s
books…
Please take any drugs, jewelry, negatives to irreplaceable
photo’s , urgently needed items with you.
Do not ship guns, ammunition, dangerous
weapons, drugs, pornography or hazardous items. We are
not licensed to, and will not ship these items and will
report anyone to the authorities that we find trying to do
this.

17. If you completed as we
suggested you should have no
duties or taxes to pay and
Customs should have all the
information you need.
