    3. You Decide
    4. Hypotheses
      • Students who read Freud’s original writing will have a different overall opinion about Sigmund Freud than did students who have never read Freud’s original writings.
      • Students who read Freud’s original writings will have a different overall opinion about psychoanalysis than did students who have never read Freud’s original writings.
    5. Results
      • Hypothesis 1
        • There was no significant difference between the overall opinion about Sigmund Freud for those who had been exposed to Freud’s writing ( M = 3.72, SD = 0.861) and those who had not been exposed to his original writing ( M = 3.39, SD = 0.891), t (69) = -1.466, p = 0.147 (two-tailed), d = 67.
        • While the trend was for students exposed to Freud’s works to rate him more favorably the null hypothesis was not rejected.
      • Hypothesis 2
        • There was no significant difference between the overall opinion about psychoanalysis for those who had been exposed to Freud’s writing ( M = 3.72, SD = 0.f779) and those who had not been exposed to his original writing ( M = 3.30, SD = 0.974), t (69) = -1.907, p = 0.061 (two-tailed), d = 67.
        • While the trend was for students exposed to Freud’s works to rate psychoanalysis more favorably the null hypothesis was not rejected.
    6. Future Directions
      • First, I would like to engage other professors who teach psychodynamic psychotherapy in professional schools to survey their students for me.
      • Secondly, I would like to make this a pre and post survey given before and after my course.
