"Angshumaner Chhobi" - the movie is an intense drama cum psychological thriller tracing the journey of the four main protagonists PRADYUT, MADHURA, NEEL and ANGSHUMAN who go through a gamut of experiences and emotions in the process of making a film – facing the ultimate challenge for every creative and sensitive person – that is, coming to terms with his or her own emotions…

Nine years ago, Angshuman (played by Indraneil Sengupta) had left Calcutta for Milan, Italy, to pursue a course in Film Direction and stayed back for a career in documentary and advertisement films. But, he had a commitment to fulfill to his college professor BIKASHRANJAN (played by Sabyasachi Chakrabarty) for directing a feature film in Bengali. Armed with a very interesting script about the curious relationship between a septuagenarian celebrity painter and a young nurse, Angshuman lands in Calcutta, putting up at his friend RAJIB and SONALI’s place (played by Rudranil Ghosh and Anjana Basu) and takes a plunge at his dream project. The project turns out to be a literal non-starter – with a series of hurdles coming one after another involving the lives of three people who are intricately linked with Angshuman’s film.

PRADYUT MUKHERJEE (played by Soumitra Chatterjee), a living legend of the Bengali film industry who prefers to live far away from the arc lights in a self-imposed exile…

MADHURA SEN (Indrani Halder), who never lived up to the expectations generated by the National Award she won in her very first film and settled for a frustrating professional and personal life…

NEEL (Tota Roychowdhury), a young man who was passionate about dance and astronomy, but unexpectedly caught up in a destiny that changed his life forever…

The acute emotional crisis reaches its acme with an incidence of crime. An alleged suicide opens up yet another dimension to the story with its investigation by a DSP of CID Crime Branch (Ananya Chatterjee)

But amidst all such adversities, Angshuman is determined to get his dream project through…

The movie will be premiered in Kolkata on 21st August 2009.
