Hyves is vooralsnog met name populair onder studenten en heeft meer dan 2 miljoen gebruikers, waarvan ongeveer de helft Nederlanders. Een ander land waar Hyves populair is, is Peru.In tegenstelling tot de populaire profielensite Cu2 is geen kennis van html benodigd voor het maken van hyves-profielen. Deze kunnen eenvoudig worden opgebouwd door het invullen van vragenlijstjes en het uploaden van een of meerdere afbeeldingen. De site breidt haar diensten uit en heeft inmiddels een marktplaats functie en een optie om met oude klasgenoten in contact te komen. Bij dit laatste stelde Hyves het betere alternatief voor concurrent Schoolbank.nl te zijn. In november 2005 werd deze opmerking gewijzigd nadat Schoolbank met gerechtelijke stappen dreigde.Hyves:Meer dan een half miljoen Nederlanders communiceren met hun vrienden en netwerk op Hyves via weblogs, foto albums, persoonlijke tips, marktplaatsen en hyves (clubs) bij een netwerk van directe vrienden en 2e graads vrienden.

Sept. 15: An estimated 900,000 daily blog readers view the videos and read more about the situation. Sept. 16: Kryptonite issues a statement saying the locks remained a \"deterrent to theft\" and promising that a new line would be \"tougher.\" This response is referred to as a \"trivial empty\" answer and an estimated additional 700,000 daily blog readers are engaged in the issue. Het gebeurde Domino's Pizza afgelopen week nadat Kristy Hammonds en Michael Setze hun video op YouTube plaatsten en in één dag een miljoen kijkers wisten te bereiken. Domino's Pizza reageerde binnen enkele dagen (?) met o.a. een persbericht, een videoresponse op YouTube en een Twitteraccount. Ben benieuwd naar het effect van deze PR-strategie! De twee personen zijn inmiddels gearresteerd; de betreffende Pizzazaak in North Caroline is gesloten.
