  2. 2. What is the Declaration of Independence?<br /><ul><li>The United States Declaration of Independence is a very important thing in the history of the United States of America.
  3. 3. It ‘s a paper which said that the United States is a country not ruled by Great Britain. American people wrote the Declaration in the year 1776.
  4. 4. In the 18th century , the United States of America was not a country.
  5. 5. It was a colony of Great Britain.
  6. 6. All American people had to do what the King of Great Britain said.
  7. 7. The year 1776, the American people who wanted to make America a country had a meeting.
  8. 8. All people are equal.
  9. 9. God wants every person to have rights (life, freedom, and happiness).
  10. 10. Every year on July 4 the people of America have a party.</li></ul>July<br />4<br />
  11. 11. Who was Thomas Jefferson<br /><ul><li>He was the third President of the United States(1801–1809)
  12. 12. Also the principal author of the Declaration of Independence in (1776)
  13. 13. He was the man of the Enlightenment and new intellectual leaders in Britain and France
  14. 14. In office March 4, 1801 – March 4, 1809
  15. 15. The words he wrote in the Declaration of Independence are very famous and important to the people of the United States of America.
  16. 16. His words are important because he explained the democracy of America.
  17. 17. Thomas Jefferson says that the people of America declare their independence</li></li></ul><li>Government<br /><ul><li>People make a government so that their rights (life, freedom, and happiness) will be safe.
  18. 18. The job of the government is to protect the rights of the people.
  19. 19. Also, the government must do what the people say, because the people made the government.
  20. 20. When the government does what the people say, it is called a democracy.
  21. 21. Sometimes a government is bad.
  22. 22. The government does not protect the rights of the people.
  23. 23. People have to stop the government.
  24. 24. They make a new government, that will protect their rights.</li></li></ul><li>Constitution<br /><ul><li>The constitution was made September 17, 1787 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
  25. 25. The United States Constitution was written by 55 delegates at the Constitutional Convention of 1787.
  26. 26. Its says all of our laws, rights and amendments, gun laws as well
  27. 27. It also says a lot about our government and the laws that were set
  28. 28. The Constitution is a government document that describes the powers that the government has.
  29. 29. The Constitution acts as a protector of the people, or citizens because the branches of government cannot step outside of their stated powers.
  30. 30. The purpose of the Constitution was for all future laws to allow 13 very different colonies successfully knit into a single country.</li>
