  • 1. St. Patrick’s Day• Do YOU know anything about St. Patrick’s Day? • It’s celebrated on the 17th of March. • It’s a holy and a national day.
  • 2. Who is Saint Patrick?• St. Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland.• He watched sheep in the mountains.• St. Patrick also brought Christianity to Ireland.
  • 3. The legends of St. Patrick• Legend has it that he got rid of all the snakes from Ireland.• He stood on top of a hill and used a wooden stick to send the snakes into the sea.
  • 4. The Shamrock• It is a recognised symbol of Ireland.• Legend has it that St. Patrick used the 3 leaved shamrock to change people to Christianity.• 3 leaved shamrock is also very lucky.
  • 5. Leprechauns• These are little Irish fairies.• Legend says it that if you catch a leprechaun they give you their pot of gold.• Another legend says that if you follow the rainbow to the end you will find the pot of gold.
  • 6. How the Irish celebrate • We dress in green. • We paint our faces. • We go to watch the parades. • We wear the shamrock. • We listen to traditional music, dance and drink green beer.
