  • What are track concentrations?
    • A track concentration is a set of related classes that will enable you to specialize in one of the following areas of psychology:
      • Behavioral Neuroscience
      • Clinical Rehabilitation Psychology
      • Industrial/Organizational Psychology
      • Psychology of Addictions
  • Why should you apply for a track concentration?
    • It will help you to focus on a specific area of psychology and discover if that area is the right one for you.
    • You will receive a certificate of completion and an official notation on your transcript when you graduate.
    • These credentials will help you to “stand out from the crowd” when you apply for graduate school and jobs.
  • Behavioral Neuroscience
    • Core Courses
    • Required : B320 Behavioral Neuroscience and B398 Brain Mechanisms of Behavior
    • Recommended : B344 Learning and B356 Motivation
    • Specialization Courses
    • B394 Drugs and Behavior and B492 Independent Research or I545 Psychopharmacology

    • The following 7 biology and chemistry classes (totaling 23 credit hours) are also required.

  • Is a track concentration a requirement?
    • No, it is not a requirement, but . . .
    • It will enable you to specialize in a particular area of psychology.
    • It is unlikely that it will increase the number of classes you must take because the classes you will take to fulfill your concentration are probably the ones you are most interested in and would have taken anyway.
  • Application Procedure
    • Go to the department’s website and print out an application http://www.psych.iupui.edu/ungrad/docs/Application%20for%20a%20track%20concentration.pdf or pick up an application from the Psychology Office (LD 124).
    • Complete the application, and return it to the Psychology Office.
    • You will receive a letter confirming your application.
    • If you decide to switch concentrations, simply submit another application.
