  1. 1. PAST SIMPLEo We use this tense to talk about something that happened and finished in the past (completed action). The moment in the past is clearly defined: last night, last Monday, last week, last month… a week ago, a month ago, a year ago… in1980 when… yesterday the day before Christmas… at 4.30 a. m.o We also use the past simple to describe something that happened regularly or continually in the past or a situation that existed in the past over a period of time, not just at one fixed moment.
