Solar energy

 1. 1. SOLAR ENERGY
EngomisGymnasium
2. 2. Solar energy
People operate solar energy by using solar batteries, solar cells and giant mirrors.
Thus, solar energy heats water and produces electricity.
3. 3. Making electricity from the sun
4. 4. Solar cells -PHOTOVOLTAIC
Solar cells are made of a semiconductor, silicon when enriched with other elements, allow the flow of electrons. It consists of two layers of silicon enriched with a positive and a negative ion.
When sunlight falls on the surface, electrons are released, collected by a network of pipelines that exist on both surfaces when you connect the item with an electrical circuit, electrons move from negative to positive surface generating electricity.
8. 8. SOLAR THERMAL ENERGY
Solar thermal energy differs from photovoltaic energy. In the thermal process, sunlight is concentrated into a small area and captured as heat. This heat is used to heat and excite a liquid or gas which then powers a generator. The generator then makes more energy from the power supply of the solar heat. Often, the solar heat is captured by a parabolic dish that collects and concentrates the sun into a small area.
9. 9. Solar panel to Heat Water
A pump moves cold water into the solar
collector, where it is heated directly by
the sun. The solar heated water is then
stored in a tank.
