    2. TRUNCATION
      • Use a * at the end of a word
      • Example- president *
      • What words would you get?
    3. Possibilities…
      • President
      • Presidents
      • Presidential
    4. Next Example:
      • What would you get if you typed :
      • Ecol*-
      • Eco*-
      • Poe*-
    5. Wild Cards
      • Use a ? In place of unknown letters
      • Example: K ? stan
      • This might bring up the country you cannot spell-- Kyrgyzstan
    6. More Examples:
      • Champ ? n might give us-
      • Tuber ? sis might give us-
    7. BOOLEAN OPERATORS
      • AND
      • OR
      • NOT
    8. AND
      • This is used to find what two topics have in common . Link KEYWORDS
      • This will narrow your search
      • Example: Vacation AND Beaches
      • What would you find?
    9. AND Vacation Beaches The Crossed Section is the result.
    10. OR
      • This is used to broaden the search.
      • Either word will be searched.
      • Example : What would vacation* OR beach* give as a result?
    11. OR Vacation* Beach* Both of the Yellow sections are the result.
    12. NOT
      • This is used to narrow the search
      • You are excluding certain searches
      • Example : What would
      • vacation* NOT beach* give for results?
    13. NOT Vacation* Beach* NOT The Yellow section is what is left.
    14. + And -
      • These symbols are often used like AND or NOT
      • Not all databases or search engines use these.
      • Examples :
      • Vitamins + minerals--Looking for vitamins but should also have minerals
      • Vitamins – minerals—Looking for vitamins but should NOT have minerals
