What is Karate? It is an Okinawan martial art. A person who practices this art is called karateca.
Types of techniques There are two types of techniques: The first is calledkata. It is a series of blocking and kicking techniques that run certain air against no real opponents.Thekata is the foundation of traditional karate training. The second technique is called kumite.This practice is a battle against an opponent, real fighting. This involves the application of techniques in pairs, contained in the kata, making one or more steps. Types of belts There are sixdifferentprimarybelts. Youhavetostartwiththewhiteone, whenyouimproveyouhavethenextleveland a new belt. Theorder of thebeltsis: White,yellow,orange,green,blue,brown and black.Whenyougetthelastlevelyou can teachotherchildren.
Competitions In thekata´scompetitionsthere are threejudges.Eachonehas got a blue and a red pennants. Whena karathecafinishesthe kata againstanother rival thejudgesputthepennant´swinner up.
