  • 2. What is Karate?
    It is an Okinawan martial art. A person who practices this art is called karateca.
  • 3. Types of techniques
    There are two types of techniques:
    The first is calledkata. It is a series of blocking and kicking techniques that run certain air against no real opponents.Thekata is the foundation of traditional karate training. All karate techniques are summarized in the kata.

  • 4. The second technique is called kumite.This practice is a battle against an opponent, real fighting. This involves the application of techniques in pairs, contained in the kata, making one or more steps. To practice kumite you need a helmet and protections for legs, arms and chest

  • 5. Types of belts
    There are sixdifferentprimarybelts. Youhavetostartwiththewhiteone, whenyouimproveyouhavethenextleveland a new belt. Theorder of thebeltsis:
    White,yellow,orange,green,blue,brown and black.Whenyougetthelastlevelyou can teachotherchildren.

    In thekata´scompetitionsthere are threejudges.Eachonehas got a blue and a red pennants. Whena karathecafinishesthe kata againstanother rival thejudgesputthepennant´swinner up.
