Pressurized liquid. Types of vehicles available today All size classes. Light-duty vehicles, which can be fueled by propane or gasoline, medium and heavy duty trucks and buses that run on propane. Environmental impacts on burning fuel Produces harmful emissions. Compared to gasoline, LPG reduces CO by 20%, total hydrocarbons by 40%, and NOx by 30%. Maintenance Issues Some fleets report service lives that are 2-3 years longer, as well as extended intervals between required maintenance. Safety Issues Highly flammable, but vehicles have been engineered to reduce risks. Not biodegradable, spills pollute soil and water. Adequate ventilation is important when filling an LPG-powered vehicle due to increased flammability of LPG. LPG tanks are 20 times more puncture resistant than gasoline tanks.
