Learn More About Tess & Carson Henley and The BGP - Presentation Transcript
Tess Henley (www.TessHenley.com) is definitely not your average soul
singer-songwriter. Though under the radar for just a year, she managed to get
her CD Easy to Love added to Play Network’s rotation (Starbucks, GAP,
Armani stores), became a new artist on Pandora.com, and won the Best Local
Band Contest for the NW United States’ largest radio station.
Professional CD Reviews: From UK's highly respected Soul & Jazz & Funk:
"remarkable maturity and focus, her music is draped in luscious harmonies; it's
truly infectious. The Henley approach to music is all about craftsmanship,
commitment and an appreciation of what truly constitutes musicality.”
Soul Tracks U.S: “As a vocalist Tess doesn't suffer from being compared to
Alicia Keys. Both eschew the breathy little girl sound that is the rage these
days. Henley, like Keys, opens her mouth and gives a full-throated vocal that
sounds mature, passionate and believable.”
Tess may be new to fame, but she is definitely not new to music. Her mother
was a very pregnant singer who performed shows next to thumping bass and
drums, until the very week she gave birth to Tess. Tess took that rhythm and began playing classical piano every
day by the age of 3. That training helped develop her strong songwriting skills. Her sound has been compared to
Alicia Keys, Joss Stone and Christina Aguilera, among others.
Carson Henley (www.CarsonHenley.com), is a Seattle
singer/songwriter, who arranges and produces as well.
Though he's also played piano since age three, Carson
did not start singing until being coaxed into a high school
talent show. He has now found his expressive, fine-grit
voice...belting out catchy, award winning piano-driven rock
(Green Eyed Soul was named a TOP 25 ROCK CD OF
2008 by Indie-Music.com).
Recorded at Soul Sound Studios and written from top to bottom by Carson, his album showcases his creative
talents, upbeat arrangements and soulful lead and background vocals. Label this sound what you will, Green Eyed
Soul is just really fun music!
Like his sister Tess, Carson was onstage nightly before birth…possibly explaining his innate feel for rhythm. His
award winning CD is now receiving airplay in Europe and the States, and his music was also added to the play
rotations at the popular Pandora.com, Play Network, and Pure Play Music (European stores).
Carson says Green Eyed Soul “is a collection of singles”, but stops short of labeling each with a meaning. “I like to
let others interpret the music as they feel it.” An entertaining live performer, Carson Henley's fresh sound confirms
his rich, soulful roots; but the distinctive, memorable melodies are the fruit of the vine.
Seattle-based pop/soul act, The BGP
(www.WeAreTheBGP.com) just returned from Las
Vegas, where they filmed segments for NBC's
'America's Got Talent.' According to Piers Morgan
(one of the show's judges), "[Brandon Ghorley] is a
star!!"
Prior to the band's run-in with primetime television,
The BGP had just finished a full West Coast Tour
that concluded with a showcase for Microsoft Zune,
and opening spot for Seattle up-and-comers Barcelona, and legendary rock trio MXPX.
Though adjectives are not in lack, for anyone attempting to create a designation for the band's sound (fashionable,
accessible, soulful, and smart), The BGP's true calling card is an indescribable live show that features 3-part
harmonies, vintage instruments, and a fan-base that shouts and dances nearly as much as the band members on
stage. An active part of the Seattle music scene since its formation in 2004, the band has played sellout shows at
legendary Seattle venues including The Tractor Tavern, Chop Suey, Triple Door Mainstage, High Dive, and EMP
SkyChurch among others. According to BGP frontman B. Ghorley the band plans to independently release a new
recording in 2010, and tour the West Coast Tour in November of this year (to include Washington, Oregon,
California, Nevada, and Idaho).
