ABOUT IMG – SEmail: scg@imgs-eu.orgOnline resources: http://www.imgs-eu.orgIMG-S is an open forum bringing together technology expertsfrom Industry, SMEs, Research and Technology Organisations(RTOs) and Academia. With more than one hundred entities from24 countries, it covers the entire security RTD domain and is ableto bring an answer to European and global security needs.IMG-S is a two level organization consisting of (i) a set oftechnology areas - 6 technical areas (TA) and 1 cross technicalgroup (cTA) - providing consensual view on research priorities intheir own domain.(ii) a Synthesis and Coordination Group(SCG) consisting of policy experts and representatives fromthe TAs to orient the work and develop a holistic securityresearch view translating the technology viewpoints in toresearch priorities for the security domain at all levels, fromfundamental research to mission capabilities and systemintegration, IMG-S contributes to ensure that short, mid-term andlong-term security needs are addressed.

POSITION PAPERFOR HORIZON 2020The IMG-S Position Paper is intended to be a source ofinformation for stakeholders in European Security Research,specifically those engaged in research orientation andmanagement (namely within the European CommissionH2020 management), national security researchrepresentatives and directors, as well as end-users andregulators.This Position Paper results from a bottom-up collection ofabout 188 topics suggested by the IMG-S members anddiscussed by the IMG-S Technical Areas. Topics areincluded in a data base with the entries: H2020 strategicarea; Keywords; sub-keywords; research theme; researchtopic; time frame (two-year period); funding instrument,performance indicators; impact on EC objectives; link withprevious projects; related IMG-S expertsThe IMG-S Synthesis and Coordination Group furtherselected a global oversight of the Security research prioritiesthat best match the main security strategic areas for H2020.Criteria for prioritization of topics included:• Contribution to specific capability gaps identified byend users• Perceived trends in terms of emerging threats andtechnologies• Consensus among IMG-S members out of diversemember States• European added value• Relevance to EU policies such as the EU InternalSecurity Strategy and its Action Plan, the EU SecurityIndustrial Policy, the EU Climate Adaptation Strategy,the EUs Civil Protection Mechanism, the EuropeanProgramme for Critical Infrastructure Protection, EU2020 Flagship Initiative on a Digital Agenda for Europeand the upcoming EU Cybersecurity Strategy. the EUApproach to Food Security
